Admission to any of our online nursing practice graduate programs is a competitive but holistic process. We look at the whole picture when considering applicants: your clinical experience, personal background and commitment to patient care are taken into account along with your academic record.

Admission Requirements

  • Current and unencumbered RN license in the U.S. state where you’ll complete clinical practicum experiences (students licensed outside Texas and its compact states may face additional state requirements for clinical approval)
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a nationally recognized nurse education accrediting body
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in upper division major courses and 2.8 GPA overall*
  • Completed undergraduate basic statistics and research courses with grades of “B” or higher

  • Current and unencumbered RN license in the United States
  • Current and unencumbered APRN license and/or clinical nurse specialist credential in the United States
  • Master of Science in Nursing from a federally recognized nurse education accrediting body
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in master’s level courses*
  • Completed master’s level statistics course and research course with grades of “B” or higher

Application Requirements

Complete your application online. You’ll need to provide:

  • Official transcripts from each college/university you’ve attended (including hospital school of nursing, if applicable)
  • A resume or curriculum vitae that includes your academic, work and community service experience
  • Your RN or APRN license number
  • Evidence of ongoing learning through continuing education or additional certifications
  • Three professional or academic references who can speak to your:
    • Commitment to high-quality patient care
    • Respect for human dignity
    • Capacity for learning complex material and skills
    • Demonstrated effectiveness as an interprofessional team member

Application Interview

After you apply, you’ll participate in a virtual interview. This interview confirms your understanding of the program and provides initial advising from Texas Wesleyan faculty. You should be able to communicate a clear philosophy of primary care in a professional manner.

Post-Admission Requirements

Once you’re accepted, you’ll be asked to confirm your enrollment by email and submit a $500 deposit.

You’ll also need to submit additional documents for clinical practicum credentialing before your first semester begins. These include:

  • Clear criminal background check
  • Clear and current drug screen (completed within one month of starting classes)
  • Current immunization records showing up-to-date vaccinations
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current TB test results

You’ll receive detailed instructions for this credentialing process and can track your progress through the Radius Self Service Center. Important: Students who haven’t completed these requirements cannot enroll in courses.
